Vancouver Fashion Week–F/W19–Day Four

Eight fashion models in contrasting unicolor outfits, adorned with stylish party hats and glamourous eyewear, a bubble dancing ballerina, a live puppy as an accessory, tons of rosettes, lots of draping, a few more fringe masks, countless oversized looks, rocking leather and a tiara-is just a sampling of the spectacle and jaw dropping creativity that was that of VFW Day Four. What an amazing showcase of fashion-meets-art, rebellion, elegance and extreme entertainment!

After a little R&D (research and development), a stroll alongside Robson street, checking out the SALE rack at Steven Madden, we were on our way back to the condo in preparation for yet another night of fashion bliss. I must add that I did manage to score a cute little purse for only $39.98! Of course, it was necessary to complete our fashion trio Rockstar themed look for last night. 😉

Thursday’s shows featured an eclectic mix of international designers from across the globe. Europe, Asia, North America and Australia were represented by many talented designers.

Erwen, the first designer show that we caught to initiate our evening, commenced with a bubble ball being blown up and a petite ballerina being positioned inside. It was interesting to say the least, and surely captivated my interest and curiosity for what was coming next…fashion shows are not just “walking” anymore, people are looking to be engaged, people are looking for more and I feel that they certainly got what they sought. @erwenofficial

Sorockolita, from Russia, was of a darker genre. This line was intense, featured a black color palette, had eerie music and exception tailoring. I was captivated and intrigued and couldn’t help but think of one of my girlfriends back home, whom would love having something like this. Sorockolita’s capsule collection includes leather jackets, coats made of Italian wool and cashmere, evening and casual dresses, trousers and classic suits. This line of women’s wear is inspired by Gothic aesthetics and modern design. @sorockolita

Next up, Eklectic & Co. from the Ukraine, and my heart throb of the night! Designer, Agatha Taras, is an economist by profession and fashion designer by night and creates with fashion passion.  Her collection, in mostly black and white, highlighted skirts, pearls, constructed shoulders, high necklines, ruffled cuffs and was truly modern, elegant and sophisticated. Her finale was a pink ruffled princess dress, complete with a tiara. I would wear this collection in a heart beat. 💓 @eklectic_official

Finally, by far the crowd favourite, and rebel with a cause, Gerome. His collection featured the fastest walking models that I’ve seen to date. It was hard to keep snapping pics! Typically, they are asked to GO SLOW. His approach and FUKC you music choice was brash, full of cursing, yet commanded the loudest applause since VFW started this week. His collection was a melange of men and women models, was very inclusive and featured mixed colors and fabrics. It was daring, edgy and closed with a neon green and black tiger printed overcoat. A smart choice with today’s neon trend and all. Gerome, who modeled for VFW for the last four years, decided to pursue Fashion Design school; and judging by the crowd, made the right choice. At the end of his show, he emerged from the curtain with a bottle of hair spray, twirling it in the air before throwing it to the ground. The crowd went wild. I like the strength of the collection but just can’t fully relate to the antics that surround the whole F*** you attitude, at least, not yet. @geromedesigns

Until next time my friends!
