Vancouver Fashion Week–F/W19–Day One

A VIP shuttle service to and from the event, a Bowmore Cask Lounge where one could savour 12-year-old scotch whiskey, savoury canapés and a life size outdoor lighting display of #VFW, were just a few of the focal points at the opening night of 18th annual Vancouver Fashion Week (VFW). ❤️

VFW kicked off with a display of the latest upcoming student talent in Vancouver, from the likes of LaSalle College.  Next, we got a taste of something that I have never seen before. Emi Jing, creative balloon designer, really stole the show. Her carefully crafted balloon designs were a sight to see, and I couldn’t help but skim the room to catch another glimpse! This Japanese creative genius has won several awards and continues to grow her already impressive resume on www.emijingu.com. The only thing that I’ve seen remotely close to this was Dave Dixon’s rendition of a bubble wrap collection that featured on day one of Toronto Fashion Week, this past February. What’s next? 🎈🎈🎈

The evening wrapped up with YONFA, a 1st time VFW designer, also from Japan, who showcased her minimalist collection with a commercial look and appeal.👚

Overall, a great opening night and I look forward to many more throughout the week. Props to Jamal and all of his team making Vancouver Fashion Week a good one! Go fashion in Canada! 🇨🇦
